We are so excited to announce our new event for 2017! Do you ever wonder what to do for your Mom on Mother’s Day? Are you looking for an experience to share together? We’ve got a great invitation for you! Our Mother’s Day Tea is a throwback to having high-tea with wonderful desserts. All members of the family are welcome. We will be announcing this event shortly on our social media, as well as ticket information. This event will take place on Mother’s Day, Sunday May 14, 2017.
The Helping Families Art Exhibit and Sale in Calgary is our most talked about event of the year. We have 100 local artists that donate their artwork to this event and have at least two of our cancer families speak at our event annually which makes it one special night. The date for this event in 2017 has yet to be determined, but our committee is already hard at work in preparations! Watch our website for updates!
Helping Families Handle Cancer is partnering with the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation to bring you the 2nd Annual Inside Ride 2017. The Inside Ride is an organized stationary cycling event that is fun, safe, team-based, promotes volunteerism and encourages physical activity. It is set up indoors, where bikes are mounted and stabilizied. Teams fundraise for approximately one month in advance of this fun event to help our cancer families. On each bike is a team of six people who rotate and each cyclist rides for five or ten minutes to fast-paced, uplifting music. Medals are given out for outstanding team fundraising, team spirit, team costumes, team mileage and top male/female riders. Details to come!
Our friends at Friends United to Conquer Cancer (FUC CANCER) are putting on their fifth event in memory of Trevor and Rick Quinn, a son and father, who passed away suddenly of cancer within two years of each other. This event includes live music, as well as a silent auction. In 2016, this event raised over $29,000 for our Care Program, allowing us to reach out and help many more families. Friends United to Conquer Cancer will be back in the fall of 2017. Details to come!
